The Customer Service Associate role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, managing orders, supporting sales initiatives, and maintaining inventory and paint mixing processes within a retail environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional, friendly customer service both face-to-face and over the phone, assisting customers with product selection, technical inquiries, and order placement
- Proactively contact preferred end-user customers to support sales initiatives and follow up on orders
- Accurately receive, process, and enter telephone and in-store orders into the company’s systems, tracking order status and communicating shipment updates
- Support outside sales representatives by providing product information and order assistance to facilitate sales growth
- Maintain positive customer relationships through reliable and service-oriented interactions, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Process transactions accurately at the point of sale, handle payments responsibly, and verify order accuracy prior to fulfillment or delivery
- Maintain organized inventory areas, receive and stock incoming merchandise, and reconcile inventory discrepancies as needed
- Utilize handheld scanners and inventory software to manage stock levels and assist with inventory counts and control processes
- Prepare paint orders using standard and custom formulas, accurately mixing paints while maintaining safety and equipment standards
- Maintain and clean mixing equipment and work areas, documenting formulas and color records diligently
- Support store operations by maintaining cleanliness, organizing workspaces, and disposing of waste materials in compliance with safety standards
- Assist with general store duties and cross-functional tasks as assigned, contributing to a smooth operational flow
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfort using computers, POS systems, and inventory management software
- Attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
- Meet the company's physical requirements, including lifting at least 50 pounds and working in an environment with paint odors and industrial products
- Previous experience in customer service, inside sales, or counter sales, particularly within retail, automotive, or coatings industries
- Knowledge of inventory control systems, paint mixing, or color matching
