Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer to collaborate with researchers and customers to enhance AI systems. The role involves diagnosing real-world problems, designing training strategies, and maintaining production-grade code while serving as the technical owner of pipeline architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with researchers at frontier AI labs to identify model gaps, define success metrics, and shape training strategies
- Work embedded with customers to diagnose real-world problems, define objectives, and drive execution end-to-end
- Design task formats, evaluations, and training setups aligned with real-world use cases and outcomes
- Rapidly ship high-quality outputs using off-the-shelf pipelines and own new pipelines from kickoff through production
- Build and maintain production-grade code, integrations, and automated data and training workflows
- Serve as the technical owner of pipeline architecture, bridging researchers, customers, and internal platform teams
- Translate real-world signals and customer feedback into scalable, production-ready AI systems
Requirements:
- Strong engineering background with ownership of complex systems from design through production
- Proven experience owning end-to-end AI or data pipelines in production environments
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments while shipping iteratively
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate customer needs into technical execution
- Demonstrated leadership in technical delivery and mentorship
- Comfortable working at the intersection of customer delivery, applied research, and production engineering
