Conexess Group is aiding a large healthcare client in their search for a Senior Full Stack Engineer in a remote capacity. The role involves shipping production-ready web and mobile applications, delivering AI functionality, and overseeing the software development lifecycle and release processes.
Responsibilities:
- Ship a production-ready web application on Next.js/Vercel
- Ship production-ready iOS and Android apps with React Native/Expo
- Deliver AI functionality as a primary product capability, not a future add-on
- Integrate with Athena, Postgres/Neon, dbt, Snowflake, and selected Azure services
- Stand up and govern the team’s SDLC, release process, security controls, and observability
- This is not a generic full-stack role. It is a hands-on product engineering lead role with direct responsibility for delivery quality, AI architecture, release readiness, and post-launch maintainability
- Use Vercel AI Gateway to control provider access, budgets, monitoring, fallbacks, and request-level data handling
- Decide when to use gateway-managed routing, when to use BYOK, and when to keep a sensitive workflow on a restricted provider path
- Build AI flows that are safe for patient-facing use cases, including guardrails around sensitive content, escalation, and overconfidence
- Treat AI quality and safety as an engineering discipline, not an experimental side-project
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in product environments
- Strong production experience with Next.js on Vercel
- Strong production experience with React Native + Expo
- Must have personally supported submission to Apple App Store and Google Play
- Must have shipped at least one user-facing AI feature in production
- Must be comfortable using Vercel AI Gateway or a comparable gateway/orchestration layer
- Must understand streaming, tool calling, structured outputs, and human fallback patterns
- Must be able to stand up prompt/version control, regression testing, quality review, and failure analysis
- Must be able to design AI experiences that work well on mobile and web
- Must know how to evaluate vendors and features for BAA availability, retention, logging, geography, and stateful storage
- Must know how to separate PHI-sensitive flows from lower-risk flows and minimize data sent to models when full PHI is unnecessary
- Must be able to own APIs, auth flows, server-side business logic, and integration boundaries
- Must know how to share code where it helps and split code where it protects UX and velocity
- Must have owned delivery of at least one consumer-grade or patient-facing product release
- Must be willing and able to serve as a hands-on lead builder, not only a coordinator or manager
- Direct experience with patient-facing healthcare applications
- Direct experience with Athena, FHIR, or SMART on FHIR
- Hands-on use of Vercel AI Gateway
- Experience with Azure-hosted model deployments or tightly controlled enterprise model routing
- Experience with Turborepo / monorepo setups spanning Next.js and Expo
- Experience implementing accessibility expectations consistent with WCAG 2.2
- Familiarity with OWASP ASVS, OWASP MASVS, or equivalent practical app-security baselines
- Experience implementing AI evaluation pipelines, prompt registries, and staged rollouts
