AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm committed to delivering a better world. They are seeking a High Voltage Transmission Electrical Engineer specializing in HVDC electrical power systems, responsible for engineering support for HVDC cable systems, feasibility studies, and providing technical support during project phases.
Responsibilities:
- Engineering support for HVDC terrestrial and submarine cable systems and converter stations
- Supporting HVDC cable routing and converter station feasibility studies
- Providing technical support input during the project permitting phase
- Preparation of conceptual level engineering documents
- Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
- Supporting clients with utility interface and technical coordination
- Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
- PSCAD model development and analysis
- Preparation of one line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, BOMs, wire schedule, interconnection diagrams
- Field experience including witnessing testing of HVDC equipment and systems
- Developing construction and equipment specifications
- Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning as needed
- Grounding Analysis and Design
- Reviewing engineering work performed by peers
- Attending client meetings
- Assist in the promotion of AECOM's capabilities while maintaining our existing client base
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise, technical expertise for studies and design efforts, and presents complex technical solutions to clients
- Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others
- Participate in development of technical proposals
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6 years of relevant HVAC experience and HVDC experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience must include electrical power engineering coupled with some leadership experience
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience working with FACTS Power systems analysis software experience (ASPEN OneLiner, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AcSELerator, EnerVista, etc.)
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.)
- Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish
- Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
- Owner's Engineering experience
- Experience working with remote team
