As a Staff Analytics Engineer, you will design systems and pipelines that enhance analytics and reporting, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable ELT pipelines using dbt and modern data tooling
- Architect and maintain data warehouse schemas that support analytics and reporting
- Develop robust analytical models and metrics for internal and customer-facing use cases
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure clean, reliable datasets
- Implement best practices around data governance, privacy, and security
- Optimize SQL transformations using advanced techniques (CTEs, window functions, etc.)
- Improve CI/CD processes, testing frameworks, and deployment pipelines for data workflows
- Mentor engineers and contribute to team-wide standards, documentation, and best practices
- Building datasets that track student performance and progress over time
- Designing slowly changing dimension models tailored to education systems
- Improving data pipeline reliability and scalability
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in software, data, or analytics engineering
- 5+ years specifically in data/analytics engineering roles
- Deep expertise in SQL and analytical data modeling
- Strong experience with dbt and code-based ETL/ELT frameworks
- Experience designing scalable data pipelines and warehouse architectures
- Strong understanding of Kimball data modeling principles
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (data science, engineering, product)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Python or another programming language
- Experience with Snowflake, AWS (S3, RDS, etc.), and Postgres
- Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau
- Experience with semantic layers like Cube.dev
- Exposure to metadata tools (e.g., Atlan)
- Experience in education or edtech
- Passion for mentorship, knowledge sharing, and improving team standards
- Strong interest in building high-quality, scalable data systems
