About the RoleIn this contingent assignment, you will contribute to engineering initiatives that span design, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to solve moderately complex technical challenges, influence engineering practices, and help deliver high-quality solutions at scale. This role requires strong analytical skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments.
Responsibilities- Partner with engineering teams to plan, design, and deliver software solutions that support mid- to large-scale initiatives.
- Review and analyze technical challenges, evaluate variable factors, and recommend solutions based on engineering best practices.
- Contribute to resolving moderately complex issues by applying deep knowledge of systems, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate directly with client engineering partners to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across deliverables.
Technical Responsibilities- Architecture & Design: Define target architectures, reference designs, and technology roadmaps; drive architecture reviews and cross-domain integrations.
- System Implementation: Transform business requirements into well-scoped system designs (capacity, reliability, security, cost) and build production-grade services in Python or Java on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
- AI & LLM Solutions: Design and implement LLM-powered features using Gemini and GPT models; build prompting strategies, tool/function calling, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and evaluation frameworks (golden datasets, online/offline tests, guardrails, quality/cost/latency SLIs).
- Agentic Framework Development: Build workflow-based AI agents with LangChain and Google AIDK/Vertex AI Agents.
- Security & Compliance: Embed security controls (secret management, policy enforcement, SBOMs, supply-chain checks) and implement model-risk/AI-safety controls across pipelines and runtime environments.
- Ambiguous Problem Solving: Break down poorly defined problems, conduct technical spikes, present solution options with trade-offs, and drive balanced decision-making.
- SDLC Ownership: Define and evolve SDLC processes including readiness criteria, branching and versioning strategies, code review standards, testing strategies, and release/change management.
- Operational Excellence: Establish and measure SLOs/SLIs, implement service instrumentation (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus), champion SRE best practices, and support incident readiness and post-incident learning.
Minimum Qualifications- 4+ years of software engineering experience OR equivalent experience through work, consulting, training, military service, or education.
