Cognizant is a leading technology company focused on delivering innovative solutions. The Software Engineer will ensure the stability and performance of critical healthcare applications, collaborating with various teams to provide high-quality production support.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure continuous availability and performance of critical healthcare applications through proactive monitoring and rapid incident response
- Monitor application health using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, and similar platforms to identify and resolve issues before business impact
- Lead and resolve high-priority incidents related to healthcare data integrations, system outages, and application performance, conducting thorough root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing long-term fixes
- Maintain adherence to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by triaging and prioritizing production support tickets and resolving issues within required timeframes
- Support production deployments and application updates, coordinating with business and technical teams to validate functionality and minimize downtime for members and providers
- Analyze incident trends to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities across document processing, member data accuracy, and system reliability
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management activities aligned with ITIL best practices
- Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and platform resilience
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience supporting applications in a 24x7 production environment
- Strong experience with application monitoring and incident management tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics
- Solid understanding of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes
- Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
- Experience performing root cause analysis (RCA) and driving permanent resolution of complex production issues
- Proficiency in scripting or automation using Shell, Python, or PowerShell
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience supporting healthcare applications and data integrations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Exposure to continuous service improvement (CSI) practices
- Experience optimizing system performance, data accuracy, and operational reliability in regulated environments
