USA Rare Earth, Inc. is on a mission to become a leading supplier of critical materials for the green energy and technology revolution. As an Application Engineer, you will work directly with customers to translate application requirements into material recommendations and support the quotation process while collaborating with various internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret customer application requirements, product drawings, and technical specs
- Recommend appropriate magnet grades, dimensions, and tolerances based on performance and manufacturability
- Prepare technical quotations that meet both customer needs and internal capabilities
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Product, and Quality teams to ensure solution feasibility and accuracy
- Develop and maintain technical content for use in presentations, product sheets, and internal documentation
- Present our capabilities and solutions to customers, prospects, internal stakeholders, and at tradeshows, under the guidance of the Director of Application Engineering and Product Management
- Provide engineering support across the customer lifecycle, from pre-sale design consultation to post-sale troubleshooting
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical / mechanical engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in application or product engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Familiarity with magnetic materials, rare earth technologies, or high-performance material selection preferred
- Proficient in analyzing electrical machines and use of finite element analysis software like Ansys/JAMG/Simulia
- Strong proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Experience generating technical quotations or proposals for OEM or B2B customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A customer-first mindset with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach
- High attention to detail, with ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Hands on experience on motor performance measurement in a laboratory set-up will be a plus
