Job Overview:
Seeking experienced Support Technician III professionals to support the migration and modernization of end-of-life (EOL) systems. This role focuses on upgrading legacy environments (Windows & RHEL) to modern, secure, and supported platforms while ensuring operational continuity, performance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Assessment & Planning
- Evaluate legacy systems (Windows Server & RHEL environments)
- Identify risks, dependencies, and migration priorities
- Develop structured migration strategies and timelines
- System Migration & Upgrades
- Migrate legacy systems to support OS versions (Windows Server & RHEL)
- Perform system rebuilds and upgrades following best practices
- Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during transitions
- Configuration & Automation
- Reconfigure system settings post-migration (networking, storage, security)
- Use automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible) for consistency and efficiency
- Develop scripts for repeatable operational tasks
- Security & Compliance
- Implement system hardening and patch management
- Conduct vulnerability scans and remediation
- Ensure compliance with security standards (CIS, NIST, etc.)
- Troubleshooting & Support
- Provide L2/L3 support for Windows and Linux systems
- Resolve migration-related issues and system failures
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and availability
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed migration and configuration documentation
- Provide regular updates on progress and system status
- Update CMDB and system records post-migration
- Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (network, DB, app teams)
- Coordinate with vendors for legacy system support
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and end users
- Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Create technical documentation and user manuals
- Conduct training sessions and share best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience with:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5 9)
- Windows Server environments (2012 and above)
Strong expertise in:
- System migration and OS upgrades
- Infrastructure support and troubleshooting
- Automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible)
- Security best practices and patch management
Nice to Have
- Experience with large-scale system modernization projects
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST)
- Experience in government or public sector environments
