Javen Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Analytics Governance Engineer responsible for the technical detection and orchestration of business intelligence governance. The role involves detecting metric duplication, normalizing BI logic, and ensuring high-quality analytics across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain Python/SQL jobs to extract metric definitions from BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Domo, SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Standardize and compare BI logic to identify duplication and inconsistencies
- Store and manage results as tags, custom attributes, and issue records in governance platforms (e.g., Atlan)
- Configure and integrate custom metadata, saved views, and steward workflows
- Partner with Reporting and BI teams to define metric naming standards, certification criteria, and deprecation policies
- Coordinate semantic layer alignment across BI and analytics platforms
- Develop and maintain CI/CD checks and Pull Request validation for new metrics
- Ensure compliance with security and governance policies as they relate to analytics and reporting
- Other duties as assigned
- Facilitate steward review and certification/deprecation of metrics
- Integrate governance workflows with platforms such as Databricks, and ServiceNow (optional)
- Support technical enablement for data governance analysts and stewards
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of directly applicable experience in analytics engineering, BI, or data governance
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with BI tool metadata APIs (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, SSRS)
- Familiarity with analytics platforms (Databricks or equivalent)
- Knowledge of REST APIs and metadata ingestion patterns
- Experience with data catalog concepts and governance workflows
- Understanding of semantic layer concepts and CI/CD practices
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Working knowledge of Visual Studio and Azure DevOps
- Experience with data catalog concepts and governance workflows (Atlan preferred)
