Job Title: Buyer
Location: Waynesboro, PA 17268 (100% Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months (Contract/Temp with the possibility of extension)
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support procurement and supply chain operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring timely material availability, managing supplier relationships, and supporting production continuity through effective purchasing and planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze MRP demand and ensure timely replenishment of inventory
- Place Purchase Orders (POs/STOs) with suppliers and feeder plants
- Track and confirm delivery dates and ETAs for all orders
- Maintain accurate receipts and transactions within SAP/ERP systems
- Participate in daily production and planning meetings
- Monitor and resolve exception messages regularly
- Coordinate with suppliers to align delivery schedules and prevent production delays
- Review open purchase orders and prevent past-due items
- Communicate risks related to shortages or delays to Production and Planning teams
- Escalate supplier or procurement issues through proper channels (JIRA)
- Analyze Line of Balance (LOB) when supplier issues arise
- Share monthly forecasts with suppliers and feeder plants
- Resolve vendor-related issues including delivery, pricing, and invoicing discrepancies
- Monitor supplier performance and on-time delivery metrics
- Support supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive projects to reduce excess and obsolete inventory
- Collaborate with Warehouse and Logistics to resolve discrepancies
- Address Accounts Payable discrepancies in Maple system
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree OR minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or planning
- Direct buying experience within a manufacturing environment (e.g., metal, HVAC, electronics, refrigeration)
- Experience working cross-functionally with Purchasing, Planning, and Production teams
- Strong understanding of MRP (Material Requirements Planning)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
