Tria Products is seeking a highly technical Industrial Software & Controls Engineer to support the design and development of an advanced PLC-based concrete batching control platform. The role involves optimizing control logic, improving batching performance, and ensuring reliable communication between control and application logic.
Responsibilities:
- Design, troubleshoot, and optimize control logic for cement, aggregate, water, admixture, conveyor, gate, and discharge systems
- Develop and refine sequence-based automation including permissives, interlocks, timers, alarms, jog logic, cutoff behavior, and fail-safe strategies
- Improve batching performance related to material flow, no-flow detection, overrun/underrun correction, surge behavior, and production consistency
- Support software functionality tied to batching operations, plant workflows, production tracking, material usage, and operator interaction
- Work across PLC-integrated backend and frontend systems to ensure reliable communication between control logic, application logic, database layers, and the operator UI
- Diagnose field and production issues using both controls and software perspectives
- Participate in testing, validation, commissioning support, and ongoing system improvement
- Provide technical support when needed, including customer-facing troubleshooting of plant, controls, and software issues
Requirements:
- Strong real-world experience with concrete batch plants and batching processes
- Deep understanding of cement systems, silos, augers, gates, weigh batching, and material flow behavior
- Strong experience with PLC programming, sequence control, and troubleshooting industrial automation systems
- Ability to interpret real plant behavior and convert it into practical control logic and software requirements
- Strong understanding of alarms, permissives, interlocks, motor control, valve logic, and process sequencing
- Experience working with software tied to industrial equipment, automation, or production systems
- Strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills
- Siemens PLC experience
- Experience with ready-mix, dry batch, or bulk material handling systems
- Familiarity with moisture correction, yield calculations, admixture dosing, and production reporting
- Experience supporting plant startup, commissioning, or live production troubleshooting
- Understanding of how control logic, operator workflows, and production data systems need to function together in a plant environment
