R.W. Mercer Co. is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Signal Integrity Engineer to join their remote engineering team. The role involves analyzing, designing, and optimizing high-speed electronic systems to ensure signal quality, reliability, and performance across complex hardware platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Perform signal integrity (SI) analysis for high-speed digital and mixed-signal systems
- Model, simulate, and validate signal performance including impedance, crosstalk, jitter, and noise
- Collaborate with hardware, PCB design, and system engineering teams to define layout constraints and design rules
- Analyze and optimize transmission lines, interconnects, and high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet)
- Utilize industry-standard tools (e.g., HyperLynx, ADS, HFSS, SIwave) for simulation and verification
- Develop and document SI guidelines, best practices, and design standards
- Conduct lab measurements and correlate simulation results with real-world performance
- Troubleshoot signal degradation issues and recommend corrective actions
- Support design reviews and contribute to product development lifecycle
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in signal integrity or high-speed hardware design
- Strong understanding of transmission line theory, electromagnetic principles, and high-speed signaling
- Experience with SI/PI simulation tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, Cadence Sigrity, Mentor HyperLynx)
- Familiarity with PCB design constraints and layout best practices
- Knowledge of high-speed protocols (PCIe, DDR, SerDes, USB, etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (valid U.S. work permit required)
- Experience with power integrity (PI) analysis
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI compliance and mitigation techniques
- Experience with scripting or automation (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Background in semiconductor, telecom, or high-performance computing industries
- Experience working in remote or distributed engineering teams
