Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. is a U.S. affiliate of Mitsubishi Electric, leading in delivering cutting-edge solutions for power systems and rail transportation. The Sales Engineer I supports the Substation Division by preparing technical and commercial proposals, assisting with bid development, and facilitating order entry for substation products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and support bid opportunities in collaboration with MEPPI sales teams, manufacturers’ representatives, and industry contacts
- Prepare and submit technical and commercial proposals in response to customer RFQs
- Coordinate with Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO), overseas factories, suppliers, and customers to clarify scope and requirements
- Develop proposal materials, including technical documentation and commercial content
- Create commercial terms review sheets and obtain approvals from Limits of Authority (LOA) stakeholders
- Organize and support bid review meetings and presentations for internal alignment and customer negotiations
- Confirm customer orders align with proposal scope, pricing, and terms
- Enter orders and coordinate turnover to the Project Group
- Identify and document all contract requirements, deliverables, and commitments
- Maintain accurate electronic and hardcopy bid files in accordance with SSD standards
- Conduct technical presentations to customers on MEPPI products and solutions
- Collaborate across divisions and with external partners to support SSD goals and maintain a professional company image
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 0–2 years of experience (internships or co-op experience preferred)
- Familiarity with proposal development and engineering documentation
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of negotiation techniques and contract terms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with customers and internal teams
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
