Job Title: Data Governance Specialist
Location: Houston, TX (4 days onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Key Responsibilities
- Define, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards across enterprise systems
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure consistent data definitions, ownership, and usage
- Drive data quality initiatives, including profiling, validation, and issue resolution processes
- Establish and manage data stewardship practices across domains
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and internal data policies
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions to align on governance priorities and resolve data-related challenges
- Support metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging initiatives
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs
- Work closely with IT, analytics, and business teams to integrate governance into system and process design
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related domain
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, and data lifecycle management
- Experience working with enterprise data systems and governance tools
- Proven ability to engage and manage stakeholders across business and technical teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage concepts
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to data
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments
- Exposure to data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms
- Background in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
