Ziply Fiber is a local internet service provider dedicated to elevating the connected lives of the communities we serve. The Dev Ops Applications Engineer II supports the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications used across the organization, assisting in troubleshooting issues, implementing application updates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and monitoring using modern DevOps tools and practices
- Implement and maintain observability solutions, including logging, monitoring, and alerting systems
- Monitor application performance and participate in efforts to optimize stability and efficiency
- Analyze recurring issues within legacy systems and contribute to long term remediation plans
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
- Provide technical support for application issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution
- Participate in on call or after-hours support as needed for critical application issues or deployments
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and coordinate application outages, ensuring timely communication and restoration of services
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability
- Support integration efforts between applications, databases, and third-party systems
- Work with senior engineers to implement best practices for application lifecycle management
- Ensure security best practices are integrated into build, deployment, and operational processes
- Leading CCB (Change Control Board) processes by preparing change requests, presenting impacts, and ensuring proper approvals before deployment
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and automation workflows
- Document application processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
- Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience working in and with cross-functional teams
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working for large telecommunications company
- Moderate experience with the following applications / services: Confluence, Syslog, Apache, Tomcat, MRTG/Cacti, Oracle databases, SQL databases, Mongo DB and Cassandra DB
- Moderate experience with large dataset systems using Oracle databases, SQL databases and Mongo DB
- Understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and infrastructure automation
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Experience with ticketing systems, application monitoring tools, or version control
