Kforce Inc is seeking a Remote Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and manage their OLAP data platform. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable data products and improve data reliability and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across batch and real-time environments
- Architect and manage our OLAP data platform (Redshift and related components) and partner closely with Product Engineers on OLTP data
- DevOps to ensure smooth cross-system integrations and data flows
- Build and optimize reliable, observable, and maintainable pipelines using AWS Glue, Kafka/Kinesis, and Python
- Develop and enforce best practices for automated testing, data validation, quality checks, and CI/CD workflows for data systems
- Collaborate closely with BI, Product Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, define data models, and deliver actionable data products
- Own and evolve data models that support analytics, product usage tracking, and real-time decision-making
- Improve data reliability, governance, lineage, and observability across the stack
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to setting strong engineering and data platform standards
Requirements:
- 5+ years as a Data Engineer or similar role working with large-scale data systems
- Strong expertise in Python for building and orchestrating data pipelines
- Deep experience with AWS Redshift including performance tuning, modeling, and workload management
- Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Kafka/Kinesis, and streaming data patterns
- Demonstrated experience with Data DevOps practices, including managing OLAP data infrastructure (data engineering responsibility)
- Coordinating OLTP data integration and operational workflows with product engineering
- Using tooling like Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or similar
- Proven experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD for data
- Strong collaboration skills with both BI teams and Product/Feature teams, translating data needs into system designs
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach and comfort with a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Able to confidently use and adapt modern AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Agent Skills), treating them as agentic coding partners-knowing when to trust, adapt, or override their outputs to build high-quality solutions
- Experience with ClickHouse or other OLAP/analytical databases
- Exposure to workflow orchestrators (Airflow, etc.)
- Experience with Docker, ECS, EKS, or similar container platforms
- Familiarity with data observability tooling
