Backend Engineer - Music Mission

Spotify is a leading audio streaming subscription service that transformed music listening. They are seeking a Backend Engineer to build and operate production backend systems that enhance the listening experience of music videos and support artists in connecting with their fans.

Responsibilities:

• Build and operate production backend systems that enrich and improve the listening experience of music videos
• Design, develop, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs that support high-traffic surfaces
• Architect, develop, and operate Java services and Scio pipelines used by millions of listeners every day
• Partner closely with product managers, and engineers to solve complex problems and deliver seamless user experiences
• Contribute within an autonomous, cross-functional squad, contributing to system design, code quality, and operational excellence

Requirements:

• Have strong fundamentals in computer science and previous experience building backend services at scale
• You are proficient in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Scala, Python, or similar
• You are highly adaptable and enjoy picking up new technologies, moving confidently across different parts of systems and tech stacks
• You are comfortable using AI-powered developer tools such as Claude as part of your development workflow to learn new technologies, accelerate development, and solve complex problems
• You thrive in fast-moving environments, handle change with ease, and communicate clearly with teammates and external partners
