Abnormal AI is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Analyst to join their growing Accounting team. This role focuses on technical accounting research, documentation, and memo writing, supporting the company's financial reporting efforts as it scales. The analyst will evaluate complex accounting issues, develop accounting positions under U.S. GAAP, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical accounting research and draft clear, well-structured technical accounting memos that support accounting conclusions under U.S. GAAP
- Evaluate complex or non-routine transactions and recommend the appropriate accounting treatment
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements, documenting conclusions and partnering cross-functionally to ensure proper adoption
- Partner with external auditors to support technical accounting reviews and ensure accounting positions are well documented and defensible
- Partner with the Accounting team to document and maintain accounting policies and technical accounting documentation to support consistent application of U.S. GAAP
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Support period-end close and financial statement review, particularly for areas requiring technical accounting judgment
- Collaborate with teams across Finance, Legal, and Operations to assess accounting implications of new initiatives or contracts
- Contribute to the development of scalable accounting documentation and processes as the company continues to grow
- Support various technical accounting and financial reporting projects as needed
Requirements:
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or audit within a public accounting firm or corporate accounting environment
- Experience researching, drafting, and writing technical accounting memos supporting accounting conclusions under U.S. GAAP
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical accounting concepts
- Experience collaborating with external auditors and cross-functional stakeholders
