Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Azure Core New Tech team, focusing on the New Technology onboarding process for hardware in Microsoft datacenters. The role involves automating the management and tracking of new technologies while collaborating with various Azure teams.
Responsibilities:
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI)
- Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java OR equivalent experience
- 1+ year(s) with a understanding of computer networking concepts including; Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), routing, switching, firewalls
- 1+ year(s) knowledge of datacenter infrastructure and server architecture, including hardware components including; Central Processing Unit (CPU), memory, storage, network interfaces
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience working cross team, collaborating with others, prioritizing tasks, and working independently
- 2 + years working with or developing software for distributed systems and scalable cloud environments, and familiarity with network protocols
- 2+ years with excellent hands-on design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills
