NuScale Power is a leader in the design of advanced nuclear reactors, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to join their Nuclear Steam Supply System design engineering organization. The role involves designing, analyzing, and manufacturing pressure vessels and related components in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and reviews engineering drawings of NSSS components in accordance with ASME Y14 standards and best practices as well as related computer-aided design (CAD) models using Siemens NX
- Prepares and reviews engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS
- Utilizes the results from BPVC Section III evaluations to optimize component design
- Collaborates with peers in different organizations and engages in the engineering change control process to ensure design decisions are well-communicated and well-understood
- Reviews design work of other groups (within and without the NuScale organization) to gain and maintain an understanding of how components, systems, and structures will work together
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time relevant working experience is required, though an M.S. or Ph.D. degree may be considered in lieu of full-time working experience
- Must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with engineering design including engineering drawings per ASME Y14
- A professional engineer (PE) license is preferred
- Design experience with commercial nuclear components or BPVC Section III
- Familiarity with stress engineering analysis (design by analysis methodology)
