Sabel Systems is a leading solution provider in Information and Communications Technology, specializing in Digital Engineering and Acquisition Technical Stack design. They are seeking a remote Atlassian Engineer to support a U.S. Space Force engagement, focusing on Jira and Confluence configuration, custom tool development, and enhancing workflows to maximize efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Build integrations or web-based tools, including applications that allow users to interact with AI/ML models and large language models (LLMs)
- Write efficient JQL and SQL queries to support reporting, analytics, and data integration needs
- Develop and customize Atlassian functionality by writing JQL/CQL queries, Groovy scripts, and Confluence user macros using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or Python with the ability to also develop in/integrate with other software, including Microsoft Office 365
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions, incorporating feedback and demonstrating progress regularly
- Independently research, evaluate, and implement potential solutions using Atlassian documentation, community resources, and web research
- Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, dashboards, and knowledge base articles in Confluence to support both customers and internal teams
- Develop how-to guides, presentations, and user instructions, ensuring accuracy and professional quality prior to distribution
- Support CI/CD pipeline configuration and contribute to code quality through unit testing and best development practices
- Conduct remote or in-person Jira/Confluence demonstrations, training sessions, and troubleshooting support as required
- Participate in Agile team activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog management
- Manage individual work tasks through Jira boards and internal ticketing systems, ensuring alignment with service level agreements (SLAs) and timely customer support
- Coordinate schedules with teammates to ensure customer support coverage during core hours (8 AM – 5 PM Pacific, Monday–Friday)
- Maintain professional communication and collaboration with customers and team members while supporting ongoing digital engineering initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience with Jira and Confluence configuration
- Ability to develop custom tools/plugins using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies such as Python and Groovy
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
- Ability to write efficient JQL and SQL queries
- Experience in developing and customizing Atlassian functionality by writing JQL/CQL queries, Groovy scripts, and Confluence user macros
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, dashboards, and knowledge base articles in Confluence
- Experience in supporting CI/CD pipeline configuration and contributing to code quality through unit testing and best development practices
- Ability to conduct remote or in-person Jira/Confluence demonstrations, training sessions, and troubleshooting support
- Experience in managing individual work tasks through Jira boards and internal ticketing systems
- Ability to coordinate schedules with teammates to ensure customer support coverage during core hours
