Backend AI Architect

Scalence L.L.C. is seeking a highly experienced Principal Backend Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise-scale, cloud-native platforms. This role involves architecting scalable and secure backend systems while integrating AI capabilities to enhance enterprise platforms and applications.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and design scalable, secure, and highly available backend systems using microservices and event-driven architecture
• Define and enforce service architecture standards, API contracts, and platform design patterns
• Drive key architectural decisions balancing performance, cost, reliability, and maintainability
• Design and implement AI-driven backend architectures, including LLM-powered services and intelligent workflows
• Integrate Generative AI capabilities into enterprise platforms and customer-facing applications
• Build and optimize inference systems (routing, batching, caching, cost optimization)
• Design RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and agent-based architecture
• Design and deploy solutions on cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Implement API gateways, service mesh architectures, and networking best practices
• Work with data and streaming technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Kafka, Redis)
• Champion Developer Experience (DevEx) through improved tooling, automation, and workflows
• Establish best practices for coding standards, observability, performance, and reliability
