Netflix is on a mission to entertain the world and is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Creative Compute and Storage team. This role involves leading the development of the Live Media Asset Management platform, integrating third-party systems with Netflix’s infrastructure to support live and sports content workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a team of engineers building the Live MAM platform from architecture to global production scale
- Own the technical direction and execution for integrating the third-party MAM with Netflix’s hybrid on-prem/AWS infrastructure
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders (Production, Content, Ads, Operations & external vendors) to deliver end-to-end solutions for live sports and event workflows
- Define and oversee key platform services around the MAM (ingest orchestration, media/metadata normalization, rights services APIs)
- Drive architecture and build-vs-buy decisions, and translate business goals into a realistic engineering roadmap
- Foster operational excellence, reliability, and observability for real-time live workflows
- Coach, develop engineers, and represent the team in cross-functional forums
Requirements:
- 5+ years in software engineering with 2–3+ years in an engineering leadership role delivering complex, distributed systems or platforms
- Experience with media platforms, MAM/DAM systems, live or VOD video workflows, or similarly complex, data-rich, integrated domains
- Comfortable in a hybrid cloud + on‑prem environment; able to reason about large-scale storage, transcoding, and event-driven architectures
- Possess a platform mindset, focused on reusable services and clear APIs
- Deep care for reliability, observability, and operational readiness, especially for time-critical live events
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with business, product, and operations teams
- Proven experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers to build healthy, high-performing teams
- Data and outcome-oriented leadership style
- Thrives on freedom and responsibility, driving high-leverage work autonomously
- Experience with live sports media workflows or Live Sports MAM (e.g., multi-feed ingest, melts/highlights, sports-specific metadata and stats integration)
- Prior work integrating vendor MAM systems into in‑house media infrastructure at scale
