The Lead Cost Engineer will be responsible for estimating, analyzing, and controlling project costs while developing innovative solutions to complex cost engineering challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill
- Analyzes to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges
- Develops and implements project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures
- Ensures work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities
- Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons
- Reviews identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate
- Maintains open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities
Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office
- Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for cost management activities
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems driven by data
- Advanced knowledge of Bechtel's financial reporting systems (CFAR), controller account codes, and cost management system (Ecosys)
- Advanced knowledge of Bechtel's standard cost reporting including the PFSR, QURR, CoCo etc
- Must be able to independently provide guidance, training and coaching to junior and mid-grade Cost Engineers with multiple backgrounds and experience
- Must have excellent communications and presentation skills to combine sound analytical cost engineering principles with the ability to summarize, reach appropriate conclusions, and present to management teams
