Netflix is a leading entertainment technology company focused on storytelling and global fandom. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in building innovative product features for their TV application, collaborating cross-functionally to enhance the member experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support individual growth and performance through regular feedback, coaching, and career development
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-impact features and improvements
- Drive a culture of engineering excellence where impact is multiplied through GenAI, balancing product innovation with long-term technical health and maintainability
- Advocate for a risk-based approach to product quality
- Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, navigating feature, scope and timeline tradeoffs
- Champion the user experience, ensuring that all features and updates enhance the overall experience for our members
- Stay abreast of the evolving trends, experimenting with GenAI to find ways it can transform how we work
- Be a role model of and advocate for Netflix culture
Requirements:
- Proven experience leading an engineering team building large-scale, consumer-facing products on TV or Web
- Strong background in client-side software development, with solid system thinking and understanding of end-to-end architectures
- Ability to inspire and lead through change, ambiguity, and rapid innovation cycles
- Strong organizational skills with a track record of managing complex projects and delivering results
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams
- Passion for creating exceptional user experiences and a deep understanding of user interface design principles, and an active interest in how real members use Netflix through consumer insights and a/b test analysis
- Experience working with remote and/or distributed teams is a plus
