Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack

Redox is on a mission to accelerate healthcare’s transformation with useful data. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for the health, scalability, and evolution of the interoperability engine, guiding product management and ensuring the platform remains the gold standard for real-time healthcare data exchange.

Responsibilities:

• Take technical ownership of a product space. Deliver high-impact products to market in close collaboration with Product Managers and fellow engineers
• Lead the design and implementation of full-stack and backend solutions. Create architectural design documents and proofs of concept to modernize the platform and reduce maintenance overhead
• Collaborate across teams to define solutions and provide clear direction on technical tradeoffs, ensuring alignment with both product goals and engineering standards
• Become a subject matter expert in your team’s services. Champion engineer-led projects to improve stability, performance, and the developer experience
• Foster a culture of collective excellence where learning happens in all directions. You will facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing across the engineering organization, rooted in the belief that everyone has something to teach and something to learn

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of leading medium-to-large projects involving multiple engineers
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects across the full stack (backend services, data persistence, and modern frontend frameworks like React/TypeScript). Comfortable with translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code
• Proficiency in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred), and relational databases (Postgres)
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including experience with pair programming and translating complex technical concepts for product stakeholders
• A commitment to continuous learning, perseverance in solving complex problems, strong ownership of outcomes, and excellent collaboration skills, all within an inclusive engineering culture rooted in psychological safety
• Experience working with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7v2, or X12, or building integrations with EHR systems
• Experience with many of the following (or similar technologies) is helpful: Backend: Node.js / TypeScript, REST API design; Frontend: React or modern UI frameworks; Data & Infrastructure: Postgres, Redis, AWS; Observability: tools like Grafana, Sumo Logic, or comparable platforms; DevOps: CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD), Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or Claude) to improve productivity, code quality, and iteration speed
• Comfort working in a fully remote environment with a balance of asynchronous and synchronous collaboration. This includes clear written communication, transparent progress-sharing, and effective participation in real-time pairing or team discussions
