Olsson is an engineering and design firm focused on improving the world through innovative solutions. They are seeking an Electrical Technical Expert to join their Data Center team, where the role involves leading the design of electrical systems for mission-critical facilities and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical authority for electrical systems on hyperscale and mission‑critical data center projects
- Shape and influence medium and low-voltage power distribution strategies, including campus distribution, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, STS, and emergency power systems
- Develop and guide electrical system architectures that support reliability, scalability, maintainability, and uptime requirements
- Establish and support electrical design standards, basis of design narratives, and best practices across the data center practice
- Lead and perform technical QA/QC reviews, ensuring designs meet the highest standards for constructability, performance, and code compliance (NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to align technical solutions with operational goals and redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N)
- Support commissioning and field efforts by resolving complex technical challenges and system interactions
- Mentor and develop engineers, elevating technical capability across teams through guidance, review, and knowledge sharing
- Stay at the forefront of emerging data center technologies, power distribution trends, and mission‑critical design innovations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 12+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on data center or mission critical facility design
- Demonstrated expertise in medium- and low-voltage systems within buildings, including redundancy strategies, power quality, and maintainability
- Proven ability to lead complex technical efforts and serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and clients
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly translate complex technical concepts
