Data Engineer

Canoe Intelligence is reimagining alternative investment data processes for institutional investors and asset servicing firms. They are seeking a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data systems and contribute to the architecture of their data platform, playing a critical role in the growth of their offerings.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design and development of our Data platform
• Work closely with AI / ML Engineers to build intelligence and automation into all Canoe systems
• Design and implement data models, data pipelines, and data architectures in support of new Canoe product offerings
• Participate in cross-functional teams as Data Engineering’s representative
• Build observable systems and be an organization leader in operational excellence

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with at least two in a Data Engineering role
• Experience with SQL Databases and relational data modeling
• Experience working with data at scale
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies
• Great communication skills
• A history of working well with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with our core technologies: Kafka
• PostgreSQL or similar relational database
• AWS or similar cloud service
• Snowflake or redshift
• Dbt
• Airflow or similar orchestration tool
