They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Sustaining Engineering team, where the role involves building cloud-native services and designing scalable microservices while leveraging AI in the development process.
Responsibilities:
- Build Cloud-Native Services: Ship backend services in Java and Spring Boot focused on high-throughput messaging and workflow
- Scale Intelligent Systems: Design microservices and APIs that are secure, observable, and built to scale in a multi-tenant SaaS environment
- Modern Delivery: Build CI/CD workflows and safe deployment strategies like canary, blue/green, and progressive delivery
- Platform Modernization: Lead the incremental evolution of our architecture toward event-driven patterns, emphasizing maintainability and operational excellence
- AI-Augmented Development & Agentic Workflows: Leverage AI coding assistants and autonomous agents (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or custom agentic scripts) to handle complex refactoring, automate unit test generation, and streamline the SDLC while maintaining rigorous manual oversight for life-safety code
Requirements:
- US Citizenship: Ability to obtain security clearance as required by government contract
- Experience: 5+ years building and operating highly available software systems
- AI Literacy: Proficiency in prompt engineering and experience integrating AI Agents into your workflow to act as a force multiplier for developer velocity
- Core Engineering: Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and common enterprise patterns
- Cloud & Containers: Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes orchestration
- Foundations: Mastery of data structures, OOP, networking, and reliability patterns
- Reduce Technical debt and recommend platform/process improvements
- Develop and optimize MySQL reporting queries
- Bachelors degree with 5+ years of software development/engineering and/or full stack experience
- 3+ years building and operating highly scalable, highly available software systems
- 2+ years of Java experience
- 2+ years of experience in cloud platforms
- 2+ years of Docker and Kubernetes experience
- MLOps Exposure: Experience assisting with the deployment, monitoring, or scaling of ML-backed services in production
- Event-Driven Architecture: Production experience with queues, pub-sub, or streaming (e.g., Kafka/SQS)
- Full-Stack Capability: Frontend experience with React, Angular, or Vue
- Automation: Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
