Enercon Services, Inc. is at the forefront of the energy transition, focusing on evolving power systems. They are seeking a Mid-Principal Substation Physical Engineer to design substation layouts, perform engineering analyses, and collaborate with peers to ensure quality and timely delivery of electrical designs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts
- Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill
- Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes
- Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
- Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executing substation physical design projects
- Non-senior roles will be considered with 3+ years of experience
- Familiarity with substation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design
- Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards
- Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
- Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings
- Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment
- 500kV substation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active NCEES record for reciprocity
- Field testing/commissioning experience
- AutoCAD Electrical design experience
