Role Summary
Reporting to the Caretaker, the Southlands Landscaper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and upkeep of landscaped areas within the Southlands leasehold lands and public areas under Century Group’s responsibility. This role is focused on hands-on landscape maintenance and seasonal grounds care to ensure the site remains safe, clean, and well maintained.
This is a temporary 3 month position with the potential for extension or transition to a permanent role based on operational needs and candidate fit.
All work is performed in accordance with established safety standards and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
• Maintain landscaped areas including lawns, garden beds, pathways, boulevards, farm edges, and ditching adjacent to public roads
• Perform routine grass cutting, trimming, edging, pruning, raking, and general grounds maintenance
• Assist with planting, transplanting, soil preparation, and garden bed upkeep
• Operate landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and small tractors safely and effectively
• Monitor irrigation systems and report deficiencies or damage
• Remove litter from landscaped areas and empty exterior waste receptacles as required
• Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas within Market Square excluding Earthwise leasehold areas
• Complete seasonal duties including spring cleanup, fall leaf collection, and snow clearing of walkways as required
• Perform basic care and upkeep of landscaping tools and equipment
• Identify and report site deficiencies, hazards, or landscape concerns
• Assist with other duties as required
Education & Experience
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 1 year landscaping, groundskeeping, or outdoor labour experience preferred
• Experience operating landscaping equipment considered an asset
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Working knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and safe equipment operation
• Ability to safely operate landscaping tools and small equipment
• Ability to work independently and follow direction
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean and well kept grounds
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
