Lockheed Martin is on a transformational journey that includes business process reinvention, as well as Agile and Digital transformations. They are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join their PPM Unified Data Exchange (UDE) and Starburst team, focusing on building, securing, and scaling a data platform for performant and secure data access across multiple domains and sources.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain a data platform using Starburst/Trino as a core query engine
- Enable secure, performant data access across multiple data sources (object storage, relational databases, streaming systems, etc.)
- Implement and manage infrastructure as code for data and platform services
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipeline for data platform and deployments
- Apply DevSecOps best practices
- Optimize query performance, cost, reliability across distributed environments
- Partner with governance, security and product teams to ensure compliance and data trust
- Support and evolve UDE that enables self-service and data analytics
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering and/or DevSecOps
- Strong experience with Starburst Enterprise/Trino/Presto
- Strong experience with advanced Linux scripting and proficiency in a language
- Experience with Iceberg, Hive, or similar table formats
- Solid understanding of distributed query engines and data architectures
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc)
- Hands on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform or similar IaC tools
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, or similar)
- Experience implementing data security, access controls and governance at scale
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- US Citizenship is required for this role
- Redhat 8 Administration and Ansible
- Knowledge of data mesh, domain oriented data architectures
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
