Great Minds is a high-growth, mission-driven organization founded by educators in 2007. The Principal Product Manager will lead the discovery and execution for content authoring tools, user delivery experiences, and content management systems, ensuring high-quality K–12 instructional and assessment experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve the product vision for tools used to author curriculum and assessment content
- Balance usability for authors with structural rigor required for downstream delivery, analytics, and interoperability
- Partner with curriculum and assessment teams to translate instructional intent into scalable software capabilities
- In partnership with the Chief Technology Officer, directors, and other leaders, form product strategy for how authored content is delivered to teachers, students, and administrators
- Ensure delivery experiences are performant, accessible, intuitive, and instructionally sound
- Work closely with Digital Product Design to validate real classroom and instructional workflows
- Initiate and sometimes facilitate product direction conversations for the CMS, including content models, workflows, permissions, versioning, and publishing—working with but deferring to expert partners in Product Design and Engineering
- Ensure the CMS supports multiple products, grade levels, subjects, delivery contexts, and modalities
- Partner with Engineering on long-term platform scalability and maintainability
- Set clear product strategy and success metrics for authoring, delivery, and CMS capabilities
- Translate complex instructional and operational needs into well-scoped product initiatives
- Write clear roadmap proposals and product requirements when they are defined
- Collaborate deeply with Product Design to ground decisions in user needs and evidence
- Partner with Engineering to make sound trade-offs across speed, quality, and technical health
- Influence roadmap priorities in partnership with Product Management and leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert on content platforms for Great Minds commercial products
- Identify and reduce friction across the content lifecycle—from creation to classroom use
Requirements:
- 7+ years of product management experience, with senior level ownership of complex platforms or systems
- Experience building products that serve multiple user types (authors, teachers, students, admins, internal teams) and not exclusively authors
- Deep understanding of content authoring tools, CMS platforms, and structured content systems
- Strong systems thinking—able to reason about data models, workflows, and downstream impacts
- Proven ability to influence without authority and lead through collaboration
- Comfort working hands on with detailed requirements while maintaining strategic perspective
- Bachelor's degree
- Direct experience with K–12 curriculum and assessment products
