Velocity, A Managed Solutions Company, is seeking a closed-circuit television (CCTV) and Security Engineer with a strong background in CCTV, access control, and security systems to join our Engineering team. This position will be responsible for designing, programming, and integrating CCTV systems, access controls, and security systems to deliver superior customer experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and install CCTV, access control, and related security systems aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices
- Plan and direct onsite construction, wiring, and configuration of physical security components, including cameras, NVRs, and integrated access systems
- Ensure installations meet compliance, performance, and reliability standards defined by Velocity’s engineering reference architecture
- Serve as the technical lead for projects involving video security technologies, ensuring successful integration with network and or voice platforms
- Collaborate with the Operations and Engineering teams to align designs with broader customers, platforms, and security objectives
- Engage and manage external vendors or subcontractors to extend technical capabilities or meet project deliverables
- Function as an escalation point for complex technical issues raised by operations or support teams
- Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution guidance for deployed systems
- Deliver customer and end-user training, in-person and remotely, on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, network diagrams, and managed installations
- Ensure backups and configuration archives are maintained for all managed sites
- Support hardware lifecycle management by maintaining asset inventories, evaluating end of life (EOL) components, and proposing modernization strategies
- Contribute to Velocity’s technology roadmap, providing input on emerging trends in IP-based surveillance, AI analytics, and integrated security platforms
- Travel of 30% or more may be required for onsite installations, training, or project coordination
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project, engineering, or company objectives
Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining CCTV, access controls, and related security focused installs
- Solid knowledge of electrical, electronics, and low-voltage systems; to include but not be exclusive to structured cabling, power distribution, and signal integrity
- Capable of intuitive and technical diagraming and documentation
- Proven technical, leadership, and communication skills
- Strong ability to lead complex projects in a cross functional team environment
- Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Physically able to lift 50 pounds of equipment
- Required — Bachelor's degree in technology or equivalent technical experience
- Required — Deep experience with at least two of the following products or platforms: Meraki, Axis, Ubiquiti, Matrix, ZoneMinder, Shinobi, Blue Iris, Verkada, Eagle Eye Networks, or similar
- Industry relevant certifications — e.g., RCDD, Axis Certified Professional, Genetec Certified Technician, PSP, CPP (from ASIS International), or equivalent
- Experience in hospitality or service provider environments
