About this role
Harnham is a rapidly scaling, PE-backed healthcare company seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to shape their data foundation. This role focuses on building and owning the semantic layer and core data models to support business intelligence and self-service analytics, bridging the gap between raw data and meaningful insights.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain dbt pipelines and data models
- Design and evolve the semantic / metrics layer
- Convert business questions into structured, reliable data models
- Standardize and define key metrics across teams
- Enable self-service analytics and consistent reporting
- Prepare data for AI/LLM-powered querying and analytics tools
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, BI, and stakeholders
Requirements:
- 6–8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar
- Strong command of SQL and data modeling best practices
- Hands-on experience with dbt (including macros and transformations)
- Experience owning or contributing to a semantic or metrics layer
- Ability to connect business needs with technical data solutions
- Background working with healthcare data (claims, EHR/EMR, etc.)
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats like HL7 or FHIR is a plus
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or distributed data systems
- Exposure to Looker / LookML or similar tools
- Familiarity with modern BI platforms like ThoughtSpot or Sigma
- Experience with orchestration or observability tools (e.g., Prefect, Monte Carlo)
- Interest or experience in AI-enabled analytics
