Job Summary
The Director of National Accounts is a senior sales leadership role responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives with large national and regional accounts, including major distributors and pro dealers in the building products industry. This position drives significant revenue growth, strengthens long-term customer partnerships, and expands market share by aligning our product portfolio with customer needs while collaborating closely with internal teams in marketing, field sales, operations, supply chain, and finance.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented sales executive with deep experience in the building products or construction materials sector, exceptional relationship-building skills, cross-functional project management and a proven track record of managing complex, high-volume national accounts.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategic account plans for national and regional customers to achieve or exceed annual revenue, margin, and market share targets.
- Build and maintain strong, executive-level relationships with key decision-makers at major national home builders, distributors, pro dealers, and other strategic accounts.
- Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and prospect for new national-level customers to drive portfolio expansion.
- Lead contract negotiations, including pricing agreements, volume rebates, promotional programs, and long-term supply arrangements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product management, field sales, operations, and supply chain) to ensure customer requirements for product availability, branch support, quality, and delivery are met.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer data to inform sales strategies, product recommendations, and assortment planning.
- Provide accurate sales forecasting, pipeline management, and regular performance reporting to senior leadership.
- Manage and develop a high-performing national accounts sales team, providing coaching, guidance, and performance oversight.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and generate new opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, pricing guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Construction Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive sales & marketing experience in the building products, construction materials, or related manufacturing industry.
- 3+ years in a national or strategic accounts leadership role, preferably managing relationships with large home builders, distributors, or pro dealers.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing revenue with complex national accounts.
- Strong understanding of the building construction market, including residential and/or commercial segments, supply chain dynamics, and key industry players.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to influence at the C-level.
- Ability to travel extensively up to 60% to customer sites and industry events.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and sales analytics tools.
- Experience selling through 2 step distribution channels and to large national accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage P&L impact of sales programs.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making.
Compensation
- Base Salary $155,000-$165,000
