This position conducts daily aircraft Wash Rack operations to prepare aircraft for cleaning using specific technical data and other applicable directives.
- Prepares aircraft for cleaning using specific technical data and other applicable directives to include covering of transparencies and wheels, taping of moisture sensitive areas and panels.
- Positions and uses powered and non-powered ground equipment such as compressors and light units.
- Accomplishes exterior aircraft washing utilizing portable platforms, ladders, brushes, rags, water hoses, pressure spray wash equipment and approved chemicals while properly using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Removes all tape, and protective equipment installed prior to washing as required by specific tech data.
- Lubricates aircraft using specific technical data and other applicable directives.
- Receives technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors, Leads or higher-level technicians as required.
- May be required to obtain and maintain special certifications required by AFI as directed by management.
- Complete all assignments and tasks as directed by managers, supervisors, leads, and more senior technicians.
- Must be willing to deploy to support off-station requirements.
- Performs housekeeping duties within 100 feet of assigned work areas (excluding bathrooms).
- Performs vehicle use inspections, cleaning, and wash.
- Performs any other supportive duties as assigned.
- May be required to work in other work sections throughout the contract.
Education
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience performing in any aircraft, aircraft support equipment functions or aircraft maintenance discipline.
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
- Must be able to, if required, obtain, and maintain a government driver’s license.
- If controlled movement area (CMA) access is required must be able to pass color vision test.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (or higher, if required).
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
- Mathematic skills are desirable.
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English with the ability to interpret technical data and special operating instructions in the same language.
- Strict adherence to aircraft technical data is required.
- Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties.
