Software Development Engineer

CVS Health is focused on building a world of health around every individual, offering a more connected and compassionate health experience. As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining scalable backend services for healthcare data exchange, working with senior engineers on modern microservices and interoperability standards.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Kotlin/Java
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ingest and transform complex clinical data
• Implement unit and integration tests to ensure high code quality, reliability, and security
• Use GitHub for version control, participating in peer code reviews to learn and share knowledge
• Support the automation of software workflows using modern CI/CD and SecDevOps practices

Requirements:

• Foundational understanding of building high-performance, distributed systems running in the cloud (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS)
• Professional experience or significant project work using Kotlin or Java
• Experience using version control (e.g., GitHub) for collaborative development
• A growth mindset and a desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Familiarity with Interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, or experience with HIE integrations
• Basic understanding of event-driven architecture, Kafka, and/or MongoDB
