Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, and they are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to join their Ansible Engineering team. This role involves taking ownership within the Product Delivery Engineering group, focusing on the automation software delivery pipeline and advanced testing frameworks, while leveraging AI/ML tooling to modernize and accelerate testing and delivery capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Own CI/CD: Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration, deployment, and delivery of the Ansible Automation Platform, optimizing for speed and reliability
- Decompose and Deliver Complex Solutions: Accurately scope out and decompose large, complex development tasks within the delivery pipeline, ensuring timely and complete solutions through collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
- Shape Best Practices: Champion and shape rigorous engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, and secure deployment, mentoring the team in these practices
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead the design of features by collaborating with platform engineering, product management, and upstream communities to integrate delivery processes and ensure end-to-end supportability
- Mentorship and Coaching: Actively mentor and coach junior team members and peers on technical domain knowledge and execution best practices
Requirements:
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Expert proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go, Python, or Java) for building scalable backend services or infrastructure automation
- Proven, deep expertise in designing and operating complex CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure on Linux operating systems
- A track record of consistently delivering reliable, high-volume enterprise-grade software solutions
- Proven ability to apply knowledge as a knowledgeable practitioner to transform technical challenges into practical, implementable solutions within a defined technical area (CI/CD, Testing, or Infrastructure as Code)
- A willingness and readiness to evaluate, integrate, and work with emerging AI/ML tooling to improve software development and quality processes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a globally distributed team, communicating technical concepts clearly and advancing the product through cross-functional collaboration
- Solid knowledge of Git and collaborative development practices, often acting as a subsystem owner/maintainer for key repositories
- Experience with container orchestration and related technologies like Kubernetes and OpenShift
- Familiarity with the Ansible Automation Platform or experience using Ansible for automation
- Practical cloud experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Direct experience with AI/ML tools used for code analysis, test optimization, or predictive failure analysis in a DevOps environment
