Job Purpose:
The Secondary Packaging Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining training programs that support operational excellence within Secondary Packaging. This role ensures employees are properly trained, certified, and consistently performing to established production, safety, and cGMP standards.
The Trainer partners with Operations, Maintenance, and cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, standardization, and workforce capability while reinforcing a culture of accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement on the shop floor. and assisting with other assigned or necessary duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain training programs for Secondary Packaging personnel.
- Ensure timely completion of onboarding, certifications, and recertifications for all operators.
- Train employees on SOPs, equipment operation, changeovers, and production processes.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance to ensure training effectiveness and operational readiness.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback on the production floor to improve efficiency, consistency, and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to identify skill gaps and implement targeted training plans.
- Support cross-training initiatives to ensure workforce flexibility and coverage across all lines.
- Track and maintain accurate training records and certification status for all personnel.
- Assist in developing standardized work instructions and training materials.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production performance and reduce downtime.
- Review shift pass downs and operational performance to identify training opportunities and trends.
- Support production as needed during low training demand periods.
- Reinforce adherence to cGMP, safety standards, and company procedures at all times.
- Assist with additional duties as required to support departmental and organizational goals.
Supplemental Functions:
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and tracking of training metrics.
- Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews as needed.
- Participate in special projects related to operational improvement and workforce development.
Job Specifications and Qualifications:
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, preferably in pharmaceutical or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of cGMP and FDA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to train, coach, and develop employees in both classroom and hands-on environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, packaging, or operations training preferred.
- Prior experience in a training, leadership, or lead operator role strongly preferred.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working on the production floor for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE in designated areas.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts as needed to support all production schedules.
