The Mainframe Hardware Configuration Engineer will be responsible for configuring mainframe hardware in data centers, diagnosing hardware issues, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and configure mainframe hardware systems to meet our global mainframe infrastructures needs
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Monitor system performance and adjust to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Work closely with software engineers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration and operation of hardware and software systems
- Maintain detailed documentation of hardware configurations, changes, and maintenance activities including connectivity diagrams
- Utilize the IOCP mainframe to define and manage the input and output configurations
- Participate in datacenter relocations, client migrations, and disaster recovery exercises
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in mainframe hardware, software engineering
- 7+ years of experience in mainframe hardware components, system architecture, and troubleshooting techniques
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, work, and military service
- In order to be considered, you must be a U.S. Citizen due to contractual obligations
- Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, subnetting, and load balancing strategies
- Certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist) may be advantageous
