Senior Special Structural Analysis Engineer 1 - Nuclear

Sargent & Lundy is a leader in nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, known for its commitment to clean energy. The Senior Special Structural Analysis Engineer will collaborate with a team to apply structural analysis and design principles to projects for nuclear facilities, guiding less experienced members and ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a team of Structural Engineers
• Interface with Engineers from other disciplines
• Guide the work of less experienced Project Team Members
• Prepare and review design calculations
• Develop specifications
• Support designers with drawing development
• Perform the structural analysis of safety-related structures under various loading conditions
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

Requirements:

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA
• Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ph.D. degree
• Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures
• On site construction support experience
• PE or SE license
• Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
