Job Overview:
Responsibilities:
- Prepare laboratory setup before necropsies, support prosectors during procedures, and perform post-procedure cleanup.
- Provide necropsy and histology lab support including changing solutions, printing slides and cassettes, operating staining equipment, and weighing tissues.
- Unpack, prepare, and ship specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures.
- Euthanize laboratory animals in compliance with humane treatment standards.
- Observe and record animal data such as weights and physical characteristics per laboratory protocols.
- Monitor and record facility and equipment measurements such as temperatures and weights to ensure data integrity.
- Support the production of histological slides including embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping when applicable.
- Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Order, receive, decontaminate, and store lab supplies and consumables; maintain inventory levels.
- Prepare reagents and solutions and dispose of biological and chemical waste safely.
- Ensure compliance with EPA regulations, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and standard operating procedures.
Growth Opportunity (Post-Training):
- Potential to transition into a full necropsy/histology technician role.

Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree required.
