RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Principal Supplier Engineer to join their Quality and Mission Assurance Supplier Performance organization. The role involves planning and executing the production of weapon systems, providing technical expertise to improve supplier performance, and managing supplier relationships throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate and translate the product technical data package to suppliers
- Perform technical evaluations in support of cost and price analysis
- Communicate the technical health of our suppliers to stakeholders
- Drive supplier manufacturing process and product design improvement efforts using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
- In close coordination with your team Quality counterpart, plan and lead supplier engagements to mitigate performance and technical risk, address performance and technical issues, understand and address capacity constraints, lead Pre-work and Post Award reviews with suppliers
- Lead evaluations of supplier requests for product and process changes including presentation at Change Control Boards (CCB)
- In coordination with team Quality counterparts, manage product non-conformances and facilitate thorough Supplier root cause investigation and corrective action efforts
- Support travel as needed. Minimum 25% up to 50%
Requirements:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
- Relevant experience is working in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering, manufacturing & quality systems, and/or technical supplier management
- Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes (six sigma, 5-whys, fishbone diagram, fault tree, etc.)
- Experience in a cross-functional business involving multiple stakeholders (i.e. buyers, engineers, suppliers, program managers, and/or shop floor leaders, etc.)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Master's Degree in the following Majors: Business Administration, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
- Existing Secret Clearance
- Commodity experience related to Energetics and Propulsion, rocket motors, engines, major assemblies and components, pyros, safety and arming devices
- Experience with design and development of products that fall within the Energetics and propulsion engineering discipline
- Experience performing supplier assessments
