Forklift Operator-Cherry Picker

Description

The Forklift Operator – Cherry Picker is responsible for operating order picker (cherry picker) equipment to safely retrieve, transport, and store materials within elevated warehouse racking systems. This role plays a critical part in supporting order fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and production flow within a high-volume logistics environment. 

The operator ensures precise picking, proper product handling, and adherence to Schnellecke Logistics safety, quality, and operational standards. 

Requirements

What will you do:  

• Operate cherry picker (order picker) forklifts to retrieve and place materials in elevated rack locations
• Accurately pick orders using RF scanners and warehouse management systems
• Stage, package, and label materials for shipment according to customer and operational requirements
• Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report any safety or maintenance issues
• Maintain accurate inventory movements and support cycle counting or inventory audits as needed
• Ensure proper placement and organization of materials within designated warehouse locations
• Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and standard operating procedures at all times
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and support general warehouse operations as required
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in alignment with 5S standards 

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience operating cherry picker or stand-up forklift equipment preferred
• Ability to obtain certification for powered industrial equipment
• Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order picking and inventory handling
• Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness for working at elevated heights
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass a drug screening 

Work Environment: 

• Warehouse environment with narrow aisles and high racking systems
• Frequent operation of equipment at elevated heights
• Prolonged standing while operating equipment and performing picking tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
• Exposure to moving machinery and moderate to high noise levels
• Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
• Work performed in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
