About the Role
The Director of Sales Engineering leads a geographically distributed team of Sales Engineers supporting enterprise and government customers. This role partners closely with Sales and cross functional teams to drive revenue growth, deliver technically sound solutions, and ensure a strong customer experience from pre sale through activation.
This leader is both strategic and hands on—providing direction, coaching, and oversight while enabling the sales organization with deep technical expertise, strong process discipline, and effective collaboration across the business.
What You’ll Do
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Engineers providing pre sales technical support
• Partner closely with regional Sales leadership to align technical strategy with revenue goals
• Serve as a key liaison between Sales, Operations, Project Management, and Product teams to support successful customer deployments
• Oversee solution design for complex opportunities, RFP responses, and out of scope requests
• Ensure consistent, accurate, and ethical communication of product capabilities and solutions
• Drive standardized processes, tools, and best practices across all markets
• Support customer escalations and help ensure a positive overall customer experience
• Provide ongoing training to the sales organization on products, technology, and industry trends
• Prepare and review KPIs, forecasts, and performance metrics
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop Sales Engineering talent
• Partner with Product Development on new service launches and enhancements
What You Bring
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Telecommunications certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MEF)
Experience:
• 8+ years in telecom pre sales technical roles or
• 3+ years in Sales Engineering leadership
• Strong knowledge of fiber networks, metro Ethernet, transport delivery, IP services, SD WAN, voice solutions, and cloud environments
• Solid understanding of the OSI model, network design, and telecom installation workflows
• Experience with financial modeling, ROI calculations, pricing, and profitability analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and mapping/GIS tools

Salary Range: $129,000 - $150,000 + Commission
