Working Student – Data Governance Coordination & Enablement (m/f/x)

What you will do
- Support the Data Governance Lead in preparing, running, and following up on Data Governance Board and Focus Group meetings
- Prepare meeting materials (agendas, PowerPoint slides, decision templates) and document outcomes, actions, and decisions
- Coordinate follow‑ups and ensure governance decisions are consistently implemented across domains
- Act as a first point of contact for Data Experts on governance‑related topics (processes, templates, onboarding)
- Support the setup and continuous improvement of data governance structures, including domains, roles, cadences, and escalation paths
- Assist with data catalog and metadata initiatives, including dataset inventory, documentation, and metadata completeness
- Assist with data cleansing activities and database updates as required, in coordination with Data Experts and domain teams
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data management procedures and best practices
- Monitor, document, and report on data quality issues, and support the identification of improvement opportunities
- Assist in the development of governance documentation, data documentation, and training materials
- Help drive adoption, transparency, and structure across governance and data foundation activities as a reliable “helping hand”
What you will need
Location & Availability
- The position is based in Hamburg or the surrounding area
- On‑site presence is required; this is not a remote position
- Ability to regularly work from the Hamburg office to support meetings, coordination, and collaboration
Education
- Enrolled student (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Industrial Engineering, Business and Communication with technical background, Data Analytics, Data Management, Information Systems, or a comparable field
Skills & Interests
- Strong interest in data governance, data analytics, AI, and digital transformation
- Interest in understanding how data foundations enable analytics, automation, and AI use cases
- Structured, reliable, and detail‑oriented working style
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and support parallel activities
- Good communication skills and confidence interacting with different stakeholders (e.g., Data Experts, project leads, governance bodies)
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and proactively support ongoing initiatives
Technical & Tool Skills
- Proficient in using Office software, especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Basic understanding of database concepts; SQL knowledge is a plus
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
- First exposure to data catalogs, metadata management, or data quality concepts
- Initial experience in analytics, reporting, or data‑related projects
- Interest in governance, operating models, and how data supports business decision‑making
