Description: Job Title: Asic & Fpga Design Engineer Location: Sunnyvale, CA; Houston, TX or Denver, CO Duration: Contract | 6+ Months About the Role This role supports a broad portfolio of advanced aerospace and space-related programs, including research and development initiatives. The engineer will design, develop, and debug FPGA and ASIC solutions for low SWaP, radiation-hardened, space-qualified systems. The position requires deep technical expertise and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain RTL for FPGA and ASIC implementations
- Develop self-test, designer-level testbenches for FPGA designs
- Work with space-rated, radiation-hardened, low SWaP devices
- Collaborate with system, hardware, and verification engineers to define requirements and concepts of operation
- Debug FPGA designs in both simulation and lab environments
- Use FPGA development and simulation tools to validate and optimize designs
- Support multiple concurrent programs and R&D efforts
- Prepare and maintain design documentation for technical and milestone reviews
- Contribute to requirements analysis, design reviews, and presentations
- Participate in technical meetings and peer reviews as required
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- 9+ years of senior-level experience in FPGA/ASIC design
- Hands-on experience with AMD/Xilinx and Microchip FPGA platforms:
- UltraScale Plus
- Versal
- RT PolarFire
- RTG4
- Strong experience using FPGA tools such as:
- Vivado
- Libero
- Synopsys tools (simulation, lint/CDC, synthesis)
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
- Experience with SpaceWire protocols
- Strong debugging skills in simulation and hardware lab environments
- Experience working from requirements documentation through implementation
Nice-to-Have Qualifications - Experience with space or mission-critical hardware programs
- Familiarity with circuit-level documentation and milestone review processes
- Python scripting for automation or verification support
