Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of production equipment, maintaining a preventive maintenance program, and keeping accurate maintenance records. Position also responsible for maintenance requirements of plant facilities as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintenance and repair of production machinery and equipment
- Exercise sound mechanical judgment
- Improve the reliability and repeatability of production systems
- Perform preventative maintenance as outlined on schedule
- Assist with the equipment installation, testing, and start-up
- Plan and implement corrective action in conjunction with management direction
- Maintain building, equipment, and grounds in a clean and orderly manner
- Purchase maintenance supplies and equipment parts as needed or directed
- Provide support to production associates regarding use and care of machinery
- Comply with all safety standards and regulations
- Responsible for 5S housekeeping system within maintenance work area and in the work areas where machinery and equipment repair is being performed
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
- Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work standing, walking, lifting, bending to access machinery repairs.
- Safety glasses required in Production Area and during repair processes. Other PPE available as determined by function requirements.
- Must be flexible for overtime requirements and assisting on other shifts, if necessary.
- Exposed to a number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Requirements
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and EDUCATION
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Two years of technical training strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience required
- Intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
- Must have experience in manufacturing processes and machinery
- Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot multiple system to include: electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, fluid power, mechanical, and plumbing
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and follow routers (work instructions)
- Must be safety-oriented with basic knowledge of regulations and standards required by OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies
- Must be a self-starter, able to work with little or no supervision
